WU Alumni Lounge at the WU Summer Celebration 2023

In the early evening, the guests gathered at Campus WU and were warmly welcomed at a champagne reception before WU Rector Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger officially opened the WU Alumni Lounge. The Rector reviewed the past alumni year and provided information on the highlights and news of the international WU Alumni Community. On the occasion of WU's 125th anniversary, WU alumni from all over the world sent birthday greetings to their alma mater, which were recorded via video message during the opening speech.

The evening was dedicated to the anniversaries of 125 years of WU and 10 years of Campus WU. In the birthday corner, guests were able to congratulate WU, share their best WU moments, and take part in a competition.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Campus WU birthday cake, which was created by master confectioner Matthias Krenn and was a replica of Campus WU. The Rector, who first gave an overview of the history of the Vienna University of Economics and Business, cut the cake in a symbolic act together with the designated Rector of WU, Rupert Sausgruber, who will take office in October 2023. Afterwards, those present could enjoy the cake as a dessert.

The evening programme concluded with the drawing of the competition and the handing over of a travel voucher to one lucky winner.

But that was not the end of the networking and celebrations. In a relaxed atmosphere and in the best of moods, the guests of the WU Alumni Lounge enjoyed the exchange until late in the evening.
