Opening of the WU Community Lounge

On September 21, 2026, the WU Community Lounge opened its doors at Campus WU. As a new meeting place for alumni and partners, the lounge provides a space for personal encounters, exchange, and networking right at the heart of the campus.

WU Rector Rupert Sausgruber welcomed the guests to the new lounge. This was followed by an impulse talk by WU Professor Harald Oberhofer on Donald Trump’s economic and foreign trade policies, their potential impact on the upcoming U.S. midterm elections, and the implications for international economic relations.

Over drinks and snacks, guests had the opportunity to explore the new space, reconnect with former fellow students, and make new connections. Personal conversations and exchange within the WU community were at the heart of the evening.

Going forward, the WU Community Lounge will be a lively place for exchange, providing space for encounters and topics that matter to our community. The opening was a special occasion to bring the community together and marked the beginning of further events in the new lounge.
